Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Godwin Emefiele, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), over the alleged illegal acquisition of a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja.
Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the eight-count charge before Yusuf Halilu, judge of a federal capital territory (FCT) high court.
Justice Halilu granted him bail of ₦2 billion, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to own properties worth ₦2 billion within Asokoro, Maitama, or Wuse 2, areas under the court’s jurisdiction.
