BENIN CITY, Nigeria (Oct. 2, 2024) — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 24 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City on Monday, September 30, 2024. The arrests were carried out by operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate following actionable intelligence on the suspects’ involvement in computer-related fraud.
According to the EFCC, the suspects were apprehended at various locations within the city. During the operation, 11 exotic cars, laptops, and mobile phones were seized, alongside the sum of N160,000 (One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) recovered from one of the suspects.
The EFCC noted that the suspects have provided “useful statements” and will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.
