ABUJA, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, November 28, on charges of alleged fraud totaling ₦80.2 billion.
Bello will be arraigned alongside his nephew, Ali Bello, and two others, Dauda Suleiman and Abdulsalam Hudu, before Justice Emeka Nwite. The EFCC has filed a 19-count charge against the defendants, accusing them of money laundering, breach of trust, and misappropriation of public funds.
In a statement released by the EFCC, the commission alleged that the funds were illegally diverted during Bello’s tenure as governor.
“The EFCC remains committed to holding public officials accountable for any mismanagement of public funds,” the anti-graft agency said.
