ENUGU, Nigeria (Nov. 24) — The Enugu State Government, led by Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, is launching a transformative digital skills program aimed at empowering the state’s youth with cutting-edge animation and motion design skills.
In a new partnership, the Enugu SME Agency has teamed up with Magic City Labs—a subsidiary of the internationally acclaimed Magic Labs Studio, whose clients include Disney, Cartoon Network, and Netflix. The collaboration will roll out the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training Program, offering 400 young residents a chance to develop skills in the high-demand fields of animation and 3D motion design.
“This initiative is about equipping our youth with the skills needed to compete globally,” said Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State.
“We are investing in their future, and by doing so, we are investing in the future of Enugu State’s digital economy.”
Accessible Training for Global Opportunities
Participants in the program will receive training from top industry professionals, covering topics from basic animation fundamentals to advanced 3D motion design techniques. With an 80% subsidy on training fees, the initiative aims to make world-class education accessible to aspiring animators in Enugu.
“We want to give every young person the opportunity to enter this booming industry,” said a spokesperson from the Enugu SME Agency.
“Animation and visual effects are growing by 17% annually, and we want to ensure that our youth have the skills to meet that demand.”
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to all indigenes and residents of Enugu State between the ages of 16 and 35. Participants are expected to have a strong interest in animation, storytelling, design, or visual effects.
Successful applicants will benefit from hands-on training, a globally recognized certificate, and the opportunity to build a portfolio, positioning them for success in a lucrative industry.
