Estonian Prime Minister Kallas Heads to Paris for Talks on Ukraine, Calls for Urgent Fulfillment of Pledges and Long-Term Support

Stenbock House, 26 February 2024 – Today, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas of Estonia is set to travel to Paris at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The purpose of the visit is to engage in discussions with other heads of government and state about the ongoing support for Ukraine.

In a statement, Prime Minister Kallas highlighted the bravery of Ukraine, which has been battling against Russia’s aggression for two years. She emphasized the need for collective action to lead Ukraine to victory. “The pledges we’ve made need to be fulfilled urgently so that the promised weapons are swiftly deployed to the front,” Kallas stated.

Furthermore, she stressed the importance of unwavering long-term support for Ukraine. As part of this commitment, Estonia has pledged to provide long-term military aid to Ukraine, amounting to 0.25% of its GDP over the next four years. In her statement, Kallas called on all other countries supporting Ukraine to make a similar commitment.
