BRUSSELS (CHATNEWSTV) — The European Union has approved a third payment of nearly €3.5 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility, bringing total disbursements to nearly €20 billion since the program began last year.
The funding, a mix of grants and loans, is aimed at stabilizing Ukraine’s economy and supporting reconstruction efforts amid the ongoing war with Russia.
“Ukraine has met all necessary conditions, including key reforms in energy, border management, and agriculture,” the EU Council said in a statement Monday.
The aid package follows Kyiv’s implementation of 13 reform steps, including boosting renewable energy use, strengthening energy regulators’ independence, and adopting a rural development strategy that includes demining agricultural areas.
The Ukraine Facility, launched in March 2024, provides up to €50 billion in financial support for Kyiv through 2027, with future disbursements tied to Ukraine’s reform progress and EU accession efforts.
