EU Fully Backs Biden’s Roadmap for Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid in Gaza

The European Union has expressed its unequivocal support for President Biden’s comprehensive roadmap aimed at achieving an enduring ceasefire in Gaza. The plan, which also calls for the release of all hostages and a substantial increase in humanitarian assistance to the region, has been met with approval from EU leaders. “The European Union gives its full support to the comprehensive roadmap presented by President Biden,” stated an EU spokesperson.

The EU has acknowledged and appreciated the crucial role played by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar in facilitating the ongoing negotiations. These efforts are seen as vital steps toward ending the hostilities between Israel and Hamas while ensuring Israel’s security, a commitment to which the EU remains steadfast. “The EU appreciates the determined efforts by the US, Egypt, and Qatar in facilitating negotiations to bring an end to the war between Israel and Hamas, while ensuring Israel’s security,” the spokesperson added.

The conflict has resulted in a tragic loss of civilian lives, underscoring the urgent need for a ceasefire. “Too many civilian lives have been lost. An enduring ceasefire is urgently needed, to ensure protection of civilians,” emphasized the EU. The immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and the enhancement of humanitarian aid to Gaza are also critical components of Biden’s plan, aimed at addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region.

Peace and stability in the Middle East are seen as beneficial not only for the peoples directly involved but also for the region and the world at large. The EU has called on both parties to accept and implement the proposed three-phase plan and has pledged its readiness to support the revival of a political process aimed at lasting peace. “Peace and stability in the Middle East are in the interest of both peoples, of the region as a whole, as well as globally,” the EU statement read.

Moreover, the EU stands prepared to aid in the reconstruction of Gaza and to support coordinated international efforts toward this goal. “The EU urges both parties to accept and fulfil the three-phase proposal and stands ready to contribute to reviving a political process for a lasting and sustainable peace, based on the two-state solution, and to support a coordinated international effort to rebuild Gaza,” the statement concluded.

This strong backing from the European Union marks a significant step in the international community’s efforts to bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict and address the dire humanitarian needs in Gaza.
