BEIJING (ChatnewsTV) – The European Union (EU) launched its “Sustainability Tour 2024” on Thursday, a social media campaign aimed at showcasing EU-China collaboration on green transition and environmental protection. The initiative, organized by the EU Delegation to China, includes contributions from EU member states and the European Investment Bank.
The campaign, which will run from September 13 to November 30, 2024, is a virtual tour that invites the Chinese public to explore 21 sustainability projects across 12 Chinese provinces and municipalities. These initiatives highlight cooperation between European and Chinese entities on environmental issues, from sustainable agriculture to clean energy.
“Global green transition remains at the core of EU-China relations,” said Mattias Lentz, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to China, at the campaign’s opening ceremony. He stressed the importance of accelerating joint efforts as the world prepares for major international climate negotiations.
The “Sustainability Tour 2024” will be promoted through popular Chinese social media platforms, including Weibo and Douyin, featuring vloggers who will visit the various projects by bicycle. Vloggers Xiaoyu and Sunfengren expressed their excitement about the tour, with Xiaoyu emphasizing the role of small, everyday actions in promoting sustainability.
The campaign is part of broader EU efforts during its Green Diplomacy Weeks and will support dialogues with China in the lead-up to key environmental conferences, including COP29 on climate change and COP16 on biodiversity.
