Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign following the deadly attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Falz made the call in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, accusing the president of failing in his primary duty to protect lives and property amid rising insecurity.
The Kwara State Police said the attack occurred around 6 p.m. on Nov. 18. Local security operatives and vigilantes reportedly confronted the assailants and eventually repelled them.
Gunmen stormed the church during a service, killing at least one person and abducting several worshippers. The assault has heightened concerns about insecurity across the state.
Falz, expressing anger over the incident, questioned the government’s response to repeated attacks.
“How many more people have to be kidnapped and murdered in cold blood? How many more lives do you want to waste? How many more futures do you wish to erase with your incompetence and inaction?” he wrote.
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!” Falz added.
The rapper’s comments echo growing public frustration over the government’s handling of security challenges. Attacks on places of worship and the kidnapping of civilians have intensified calls for urgent reforms and stronger protections across vulnerable communities.
Civil society groups and residents in Kwara have also condemned the attack, urging the federal government to strengthen security in the state, which serves as a critical link between northern and southern Nigeria.
Falz’s message adds to increasing demands for accountability as Nigerians continue to grapple with kidnappings, armed attacks and persistent insecurity.
