NEW YORK (Chatnewstv.com) — Nearly three decades after it helped define the compact SUV category, Toyota’s RAV4 is getting a bold redesign for 2026, bringing new styling, electrified powertrains and advanced technology.

Here are five things to know about the sixth-generation RAV4:
1. A Complete Redesign
Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the 2026 RAV4 features a more rigid structure for improved handling and ride comfort. High-damping adhesives reduce road noise, while the sharper exterior design adds an edgier, modern look. Inside, drivers will find a streamlined cabin with a digital gauge cluster, thin-bezel touchscreen and a redesigned center console.

2. Multiple Styles to Choose From
Toyota will offer three main styles — Core, Rugged and Sport — across seven grades. The Core emphasizes practicality and comfort, while the Woodland model caters to off-road adventures with standard SofTex-trimmed seating and available all-terrain tires.

3. Expanded Hybrid Options
The RAV4 lineup continues to focus on electrification. The hybrid model will now come in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive. A new plug-in hybrid version, equipped with Toyota’s sixth-generation PHEV system, delivers more horsepower and a longer all-electric driving range, with AWD standard.

4. Two New Grades: Woodland and GR Sport
The Woodland grade becomes a standalone option in 2026, featuring raised roof rails, off-road styling and integrated LED lighting. At the other end of the spectrum, the GR Sport model — developed with Toyota Gazoo Racing — debuts with sport-tuned suspension, enhanced body rigidity, 20-inch wheels and exclusive PHEV performance.

5. Advanced Tech and Safety
For the first time, the RAV4 incorporates Toyota’s Arene software platform, supporting the latest Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite and next-gen multimedia system. Features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, faster “Hey Toyota” voice commands and customizable touchscreens. Safety tech now offers wider-ranging driver-assist capabilities for added confidence.

Toyota says the 2026 RAV4 aims to balance daily practicality with rugged capability, while setting new benchmarks for electrification and technology in the compact SUV segment.
