Foreign Government Are Behind The Planned Protest — IGP

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday, said that intelligence at the disposal of the Force has revealed that foreign mercenaries are involved in the proposed nationwide protest.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Egbetokun urged all Nigerians to exercise caution and think twice before joining any protest group.
He urged organizers of protests to register locations and seek permission, emphasizing the need for orderly demonstrations.

The Police Boss announced the deployment of officers and men to protect lives and property, citing the country’s history of violent protests with devastating consequences, including the #EndSARS protest, which exacerbated crime rates and insecurity.

Egbetokun also revealed that the Police have received intelligence reports indicating that foreign mercenaries have been hired to infiltrate and hijack the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship, with the intention of causing destruction and chaos in the country.”

He assured that measures are in place to apprehend hoodlums attempting to disguise themselves as protesters.

The Inspector General of Police reiterated the police’s commitment to securing peaceful protests, stating that maintaining law and order during demonstrations would not be a challenge if protesters engaged in peaceful conduct.
