Former Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is interested in investing in troubled French club Girondins Bordeaux.
“Talks about a possible entry into Girondins de Bordeaux are at an early stage. There is nothing more to say at the moment,” Kahn told the newspaper Bild late on Thursday.
According to the French newspaper Sud Ouest, former Olympique Marseille chief Jacques-Henri Eyraud is said to have made initial contact with Bordeaux owner Gérard Lopez on Kahn’s behalf in December. Whether it would be a full takeover is unclear.
Kahn, 55, was sacked as Bayern Munich chief executive 19 months ago and would have a big job to revive Bordeaux.
The six-time French champions, who lost the UEFA Cup final against Kahn’s Bayern in 1996, have been demoted to the fourth tier following administration.
