Former INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega Loses Mum

Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Muhammadu Jega, mother of the former Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and ex-Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Muhammad Attahiru Jega is dead.

According to a family source, she gave up the ghost on Friday night in Abuja after a brief illness.

The source further revealed that funeral prayer for the deceased will be held at the National Mosque in Abuja this Saturday.

She would later be interred at Gudu Cemetery Abuja after the funeral prayer.

Hajiya Hauwa is survived by many children and grandchildren, including popular journalist and syndicated newspaper columnist, Malam Mahmud Jega, and a former Executive Director of AMCON, Alhaji Abbas Jega, among others.
