Bolaji Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement made on Monday, Abdullahi indicated that he is currently uncertain about his future political direction, saying, “The decision of what to do and where to go will be taken in the future, and that’s left to God.”
This announcement comes amid a wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Last week, a member of the Labour Party (LP), Rep. Dalyop Chollom, who represents the Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal constituency in Plateau State, switched allegiance to the APC.
The previous week saw five lawmakers, consisting of four from the Labour Party and one from the Peoples Democratic Party, also defecting to the APC. The Labour Party members who defected include Rep. Tochukwu Chinedu Okere from Imo, Rep. Donatus Matthew from Kaduna, Rep. Akiba Bassey from Cross River, and Rep. Esosa Iyawe from Edo.
