French Police Kills Man Trying To Burn Synagogue

Police have successfully disarmed a man who was attempting to ignite a synagogue in the north-west region of France.

France’s Interior Minister GĂ©rald Darmanin said the man was brandishing a knife when he approached police in Rouen, France.

Police “responded to a report of smoke near the synagogue”, a source close to the case told the AFP news agency.

“The man was armed with a knife and an iron bar,” the source added.

“He approached the police officers who fired, the individual died.”

“In Rouen, national police officers neutralised an armed individual early this morning who was clearly intent on setting fire to the town’s synagogue. I congratulate them on their responsiveness and courage,” Mr Darmanin wrote on X.
