Agency Report –
Two thirds of German companies consider excessive bureaucracy and slow approval procedures to be their greatest obstacles, according to a new survey published on Saturday.
A total of 67.3% of respondents believe the country’s new conservative-led government must above all slash bureaucracy to strengthen the economy, the survey conducted by Civey found.
The 1,002 private sector decision-makers were consulted in the first week of May on behalf of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Economic Forum.
Demands for a reduction in electricity tax came in second place of their priorities, with 32.2% of respondents rating this as urgent.
The abolition of the Supply Chain Act came in third place with 30.2%.
“Reducing bureaucracy and speeding up procedures are seen as an absolute priority well ahead of other important economic measures,” forum president Ines Zenke told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland media group.
“The new federal government must take immediate and tangible action,” Zenke said, adding that the government could also take action on the Supply Chain Act and energy prices this year.
