Governor Bago Seeks Tax Credit Scheme To Reconstruct Lapai-Gulu-Muye Federal Road

Niger State, Nigeria – Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced a series of ambitious infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the state.

The announcement was made during the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of township roads in Lapai Local Government Area, according to a statement released on Sunday by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State.

The Governor disclosed that the State Government has sought the approval of the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works for the permission to reconstruct the Lapai-Gulu-Muye Federal road. This move is part of the Governor’s unwavering determination to transform the State.

In addition to this, the State Government is also seeking the support of the FIRS/NNPC through a tax credit scheme for the road project, supplementing the ones recently granted. The Governor also revealed plans to renovate the General Hospital Lapai and revive the water works project that the late former Governor of the State, Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure, started from Katcha to Agaie and to Lapai.

Speaking on his Agricultural revolution, Governor Bago encouraged the people to embrace mechanized agriculture, promising that the government would provide the necessary support for their benefit.

The Governor also visited Agaie, where he performed the groundbreaking of township roads. He assured the people that plans are underway for the construction of other roads in the local Government, including the road leading to Baro Port. He also promised that the Agaie General Hospital will be renovated and equipped for improved healthcare service delivery, and the central market will receive a facelift to boost socio-economic activities.

In an interview, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alh Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo, praised the infrastructural strides of the Governor, noting that infrastructure is the most critical component of the New Niger Agenda. He explained that access roads are instrumental in achieving the Agricultural revolution of Governor Umaru Bago and pledged that the Ministry will strengthen its support to complement the commitment of the Governor to ensure that development spreads across rural areas.

In their separate remarks, Lapai Council Chairman, Alh. Mohammed Musa Kirikpo, and the Chairman of Agaie Local Government Council, Alh. Ibrahim Sayuti Aliyu, appreciated the Governor for extending his infrastructural development to rural areas and called for sustained efforts.

The Emir of Agaie, Alh. Yusuf Nuhu, represented by Wazirin Agaie, Alh. Abubakar Baba Alkali, and the Emir of Lapai, Alh. Umaru Bago Tafida, commended Governor Umaru Bago for his efforts at transforming the State, and assured him of continued support.

Consultants for the Agaie and Lapai road projects said they would have drainage on the sides and ensure strict supervision for quality jobs. The contractors handling the Agaie and the Lapai road constructions pledged to execute standard projects as stipulated in the contract agreements.
