WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) – Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with industrialist and presidential advisor Elon Musk at the Pentagon today, discussing military innovation and efficiency in a private meeting that lasted about an hour, defense officials said.
The visit was a result of a personal invitation from Hegseth and was unrelated to Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency, officials clarified.
“We will rebuild our military by matching threats to capabilities,” Hegseth said in a recent message to the force. “This means reviving our defense industrial base, reforming our acquisition process, passing a financial audit, and rapidly fielding emerging technologies. We will remain the strongest and most lethal force in the world.”
Musk, known for his ventures in space, technology, and electric vehicles, recently played a role in the return of NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Suni Williams—both retired U.S. Navy captains—from the International Space Station.
His last visit to the Pentagon was in 2016, when he met with then-Defense Secretary Ash Carter.
