ABUJA, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the deployment of six newly appointed Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) to key departments within the Nigeria Police Force, aiming to strengthen operational efficiency and address evolving security challenges.
The directive follows the recent decoration of the officers and includes a strategic reassignment to maximize their expertise, according to a statement issued Sunday by police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Under the new postings, DIG Sadiq Idris Abubakar will lead the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), while DIG Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo has been assigned to the Force Intelligence Department (FID). DIG Williams Adebowale takes charge of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department, and DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi has been appointed to oversee the Department of Operations (DOPs).
Additionally, DIG Adebola Ayinde Hamzat will head the Department of Logistics and Supply (DLS), and DIG Idegwu Basil Okuoma will lead the Department of Research and Planning (R&P). The IGP also reassigned DIG Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya to the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).
Egbetokun expressed confidence in the newly appointed officers, emphasizing that their experience would enhance the force’s overall effectiveness.
“These strategic deployments are designed to ensure the Nigeria Police Force continues to meet the security needs of the country with professionalism and efficiency,” he said.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and security through personnel redeployments aimed at optimizing leadership capacity within the force.
