In a thrilling Champions League semi-final match, Inter Milan edged out Barcelona 4-3 at San Siro, securing a 7-6 aggregate victory.
David Frattesi scored the decisive goal in the 99th minute of extra time, sending Inter to the final.
The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Barcelona coming back from 2-0 down at halftime to take a 3-2 lead. However, Inter’s resilience paid off as Francesco Acerbi equalized in stoppage time, forcing the game into extra time.
“It was incredible. We fought until the end; very proud of the way we fought today,” said Denzel Dumfries, capturing the team’s spirit. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer, named Player of the Match, added, “I’m very happy, we played an incredible match… Many teams would have given up after going down 3-2, but we didn’t, and managed to come back.”
Frattesi’s match-winning goal sparked wild celebrations. “What happened? I don’t know! I celebrated so loudly that my head was spinning,” he exclaimed. Former England striker Wayne Rooney praised Sommer’s exceptional saves, saying, “I’m not really quick to praise goalkeepers, but some of those saves Yann Sommer made were excellent.”
The win sets up an exciting final for Inter Milan, who will face either PSG or Arsenal on May 31 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
