DUBAI (Chatnewstv.com) — Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Sunday accused the United States of deliberately sabotaging ongoing diplomatic talks by launching strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling the attacks a “grave violation” of international law.
“Last week, we were in negotiations with the U.S. when Israel decided to blow up that diplomacy,” Araghchi wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “This week, we held talks with the E3/EU when the U.S. decided to blow up that diplomacy. What conclusion would you draw?”
In another post earlier Sunday, Araghchi condemned the U.S. strikes on what he described as “peaceful nuclear installations,” saying they violated the United Nations Charter, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and international law.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” he said. “Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior.”
The remarks follow reports that U.S. forces struck several Iranian nuclear sites in response to recent regional escalations, a move U.S. officials have yet to formally confirm.
Araghchi argued Iran had never abandoned diplomacy and challenged Western leaders’ calls for Tehran to return to the negotiating table.
“To Britain and the EU High Rep, it is Iran which must ‘return’ to the table. But how can Iran return to something it never left, let alone blew up?” he wrote.
Citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, which permits self-defense in the face of armed attack, the Iranian foreign minister said his country “reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people.”
There was no immediate comment from Washington or the EU. The international community has expressed growing concern over the escalating tensions and their implications for nuclear non-proliferation and regional stability.
