KANO, Nigeria (ChatnewsTV) — Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dissolved the Interim Management Committees of all 44 local government areas, effective immediately.
The announcement came during a valedictory meeting held at the Government House, Kano, where the governor expressed his appreciation for the committees’ service.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson on Thursday, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf thanked the outgoing committee members for their dedication in overseeing local government affairs over the past six months.
“Their efforts were instrumental in implementing state policies and programs at the grassroots level,” he said.
The governor reassured the committee members that the state government will continue to engage with them in future activities.
“We value your contributions and will involve you in further state engagements for the benefit of Kano’s citizens,” Yusuf said.
Yusuf also directed the committees to transfer authority to the Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs), who will temporarily oversee local government operations until elections are held on October 26, 2024.
The governor called on the DPMs to maintain transparency and adhere to the rules governing their conduct.
The dissolution marks a significant administrative change ahead of the upcoming local government elections, underscoring the state’s commitment to proper governance and the rule of law.
