Peter Obi addressed the recent open letter from Kenneth Okonkwo, in which Okonkwo expressed differing views on the internal conflicts within their party. Responding to various reactions to the letter, Obi categorically declared that Barrister Okonkwo remains his beloved brother and a trusted ally.
Obi cautioned against referring to Okonkwo as a mole or making any negative remarks about him. He emphasized that Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo has consistently stood by him through thick and thin, and his loyalty and commitment cannot be overstated or diminished.
Obi acknowledged that disagreements and differing opinions are a natural part of any group, society, or movement. He stressed the importance of maintaining respect and decorum even when disagreements arise. Having differing views does not make someone an enemy, and constructive dialogue is crucial rather than resorting to personal attacks or negative remarks.
Obi expressed that, as a leader, he does not want to work with individuals who always agree with him. He believes that learning and listening are critical components of effective leadership. Obi values hearing different opinions and is open to either convincing others or taking their advice if it is better.
He urged all supporters of a New Nigeria to remain strong, resilient, and focused. He called for refraining from discouragement or negative remarks towards Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo or anyone who leaves or disagrees with their views, strategies, or tactics. Obi’s message was clear: unity, respect, and civility must prevail, even in the face of disagreement and variance.
