VILNIUS (Chatnewstv.com) — Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said Russian military planes violated Lithuania’s airspace on Thursday evening, calling it a “blatant breach of international law and territorial integrity.”
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Nausėda said the incident underscores the need to strengthen Europe’s air defense systems, especially amid rising tensions in the region.
“Once again, it confirms the importance of strengthening European air defence readiness,” Nausėda wrote.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would summon representatives of the Russian Embassy to protest what it described as “reckless and dangerous behaviour.”
The alleged airspace violation comes as NATO allies in the Baltics have repeatedly accused Russia of testing their defences through incursions and military provocations near their borders.
