SHANGHAI (CHATNEWSTV) — Mazda unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the all-new MAZDA EZ-60 crossover SUV, at Auto Shanghai 2025 on Wednesday, signaling a strengthened alliance with Changan Automobile and an aggressive push into China’s competitive EV market.
The EZ-60 is the second electric model born from the collaboration between Mazda and its Chinese partner, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., under their joint venture, Changan Mazda. Available as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the EZ-60 is scheduled to hit Chinese roads in 2025.
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of Changan Mazda, and we are proud to present a model that blends Mazda’s driving joy with the innovation and ambition of our Chinese partner,” said Masahiro Moro, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation. “The EZ-60 is an electric SUV tailored for Chinese customers who value both advanced technology and emotional connection with their vehicles.”
Tech-Forward Design and Performance
Styled under the “FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN” theme, the EZ-60 sports a futuristic design that integrates aerodynamic enhancements and a spacious, tech-rich interior. With a length of 4,850mm and a wide stance, the EZ-60 features a 26.45-inch 5K integrated display, voice and gesture-controlled smart cabin, and a 3D head-up display.
Drivers can expect a smooth and responsive ride, thanks to a near-perfect weight distribution (50:50 for the PHEV), electronically controlled dampers, and independent front and rear suspensions. The BEV model targets a range of around 600 kilometers, while the PHEV variant boasts over 1,000 kilometers per refueling.
Mazda’s Jinba-Ittai philosophy — the unity of horse and rider — remains central to the vehicle’s engineering. “We’ve engineered the EZ-60 to be as intuitive and connected as it is modern and efficient,” a Changan Mazda executive said.
Driving Into the Future
In addition to its smart interface and AI-powered driver assistance systems, the EZ-60 delivers a premium entertainment experience through a 23-speaker 3D sound system, including individual headrest speakers for a dual-zone audio experience.
The launch follows the debut of the MAZDA EZ-6 in 2024 and is part of Changan Mazda’s “Yu Dian Xin Jing” exhibit at the show, meaning “Breaking New Ground with EVs.”
With the EZ-60, Mazda aims not just to grow market share but to redefine its footprint in China through a new generation of emotionally resonant, high-tech electric vehicles.
“Our journey in China is about more than market expansion — it’s about delivering mobility that moves people, literally and emotionally,” Moro added.
