CASABLANCA, Morocco — A Moroccan-born startup is looking to change how millions of sports fans experience major competitions across Africa by launching a multilingual AI voice assistant designed to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps.
ToumAI, a pioneer in vocal artificial intelligence, announced the beta release of “GAME Voice” on Jan. 6. The mobile application, rebranded as “CAN Voice” for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, serves as an intelligent companion capable of understanding and responding in several African languages and dialects.
The technology is built on a proprietary architecture called HolistiCX, which allows the AI to analyze conversations, detect emotions, and generate real-time responses. Unlike standard voice assistants, GAME Voice supports vernacular languages such as Darija, Wolof, Swahili, and Bambara.
“Our goal was simple: to design a multilingual AI voice companion, accessible to all, that enhances the fan experience across regions while placing linguistic inclusion and cultural immersion at the heart of African sports technology innovation,” said Odin Demassieux, CEO and co-founder of ToumAI.
The application offers fans hands-free access to match schedules, real-time results, and stadium navigation. It also provides practical information for travelers, including optimized routes to venues, traffic updates, and emergency service locations.
Beyond utility, the app integrates a cultural layer through a partnership with the startup tetra x africa. Users can receive tailored recommendations for local heritage sites, such as Morocco’s Hassan Tower, and access curated African music and video content through platforms like Spotify and Trace+.
The initiative arrives as Africa enters a heavy cycle of major sporting events, including the Youth Olympic Games in Senegal and the World Athletics Relays in Botswana. Developers say the app targets a “voice-driven generation” of Millennials and Gen Zers who now dominate stadium attendance and digital viewership.
“The content highlights a vibrant scene of musical talent and innovative video productions,” said Stephanie De Lima and Matthieu Hervé, co-founders of tetra x africa, in a joint statement. “It reflects the richness and diversity of the continent’s creativity.”
The beta version is currently available for free on Google Play and the App Store. ToumAI plans a full official release in the second quarter of 2026, coinciding with other major continental competitions.
