Agency Report –
Munich – After contract extensions for Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Manuel Neuer and most recently Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich say they can now look at new deals for other players.
In what fans may see as an apparent slight at one-club veteran Thomas Müller, winger Leroy Sané and defender Eric Dier, head of sport Max Eberl told reporters on Friday, “We got the key players done first.”
Talks will now take place about possible extensions for the trio, with the future of Leon Goretzka not yet on the agenda, Eberl added.
“We had a plan at the start of the season. We had players with whom we absolutely wanted to extend their contracts because they are extremely important for the future of the club. Everything turned out exactly as we had imagined and wished.”
The futures of Müller, Sané and Dier will also be clarified in the coming weeks.
“Thomas is a very special player. Leroy is a very special player. And with Eric Dier, there is also a player who has absolutely shown through his performances that we have to think about his future here,” said Eberl.
Goretzka looked like he was on his way out of Bayern earlier in the season but he has regained his starting spot of late. His deal runs out in July 2026.
“It always happens quickly, the leaps become very big,” Eberl said of Goretzka’s return to form.
“Leon has performed very well, has made the most of moments when other players were absent. He has underlined his importance and, as far as I’m concerned, has now rightly been nominated for the national team again. But we really haven’t thought about what will happen beyond 2026.”
