Kiev – Folk rock star Neil Young will kick off the European leg of his upcoming tour with a free concert in Ukraine, the 79-year-old Canadian musician announced on his website on Monday.
Young did not give a date, but said it would be a “free concert for all” and details would be announced on his website.
Young, one of the most successful musicians of his generation, has been a regular advocate for the country since the Russian invasion more than three years ago. He is also a sharp critic of US President Donald Trump.
“Keep on Rockin’ in the FREE WORLD,” he wrote on his website, which references lyrics from his 1991 hit. A large Ukrainian flag accompanied the announcement.
According to the Rolling Stone magazine, it would be the first concert for the “Godfather of Grunge” in Ukraine.
The tour was previously scheduled to start with a concert in Rättvik, Sweden on June 18. In Germany, Young is set to perform in Berlin, Mönchengladbach and Stuttgart.
