INGOLSTADT, GERMANY – Audi has introduced the latest models of the A5 e-hybrid, including the Avant and Sedan, offering advanced hybrid technology for a more dynamic and efficient driving experience. Available in two power levels, these models boast up to 270 kilowatts of total output, delivering enhanced performance while offering an electric range of up to 110 kilometers (68 miles).
The new Audi A5 plug-in hybrids are equipped with a significantly improved high-voltage battery, which has increased capacity by approximately 45%. This, along with a smarter recuperation strategy, contributes to the impressive electric range and higher efficiency. “Our new generation of plug-in hybrid models offers a sporty and comfortable driving experience, as well as a harmonious balance between performance and efficiency,” said Audi CEO Gernot Döllner.
The A5 e-hybrid models feature an intelligent hybrid management system that automatically selects the most efficient operating strategy. Drivers can choose between “EV” mode, where the vehicle runs entirely on electric power, and “hybrid” mode, which optimizes fuel usage and electric energy for a longer range. “The increased electric range allows our customers to cover the majority of their daily journeys using electric power,” added Geoffrey Bouquot, Audi’s Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development.
With a 25.9 kWh high-voltage battery, the A5 e-hybrid offers faster charging capabilities, reducing charging time from 0 to 100% in just 2.5 hours. The models are also equipped with a regenerative braking system that enhances energy recovery. The A5 Avant e-hybrid quattro and A5 Sedan e-hybrid quattro can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.1 seconds in the 270 kW version.
The new A5 e-hybrids are expected to be available for order in Europe starting March 27, 2025, with a planned launch in April 2025. Prices for the A5 Sedan e-hybrid quattro start at €62,500, while the A5 Avant e-hybrid quattro begins at €64,150.
