UYO, Nov. 19 (ChatnewsTV) – Nigeria’s Super Eagles ended their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with an unexpected 2-1 loss to Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday.
The Super Eagles, already assured of a spot in next year’s AFCON as Group D winners, took the lead in the 59th minute with a superb solo effort from forward Samuel Chukwueze.
However, Rwanda stunned the home crowd with two quick goals, first from Ange Mutsinzi and later Innocent Nshuti, marking Rwanda’s historic first-ever victory over Nigeria.
This marks the first defeat for Nigeria under interim manager, Augustine Eguavoen, whose future with the national team remains uncertain as speculation swirls about his potential departure.
