ABUJA, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — A representative of Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu has accused the Nigerian government on Tuesday of applying double standards in the country’s justice system, saying Igbos face harsher treatment than other groups.
“There seems to be two kinds of justice in Nigeria — one for the Igbos and another for everyone else,” the representative said.
“It’s painful and disappointing that Igbo political and religious leaders are watching silently while Nnamdi Kanu continues to suffer in the hands of the Nigerian government.”
Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been in detention since 2021 facing terrorism-related charges. His trial has drawn international concern over due process and human rights.
The representative urged Igbo leaders to speak out and demand Kanu’s release, warning that silence could deepen mistrust between the government and the region.
