ABUJA, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed several officers filmed escorting Nollywood actress Angela Okorie while she jogged, after a viral video triggered outrage over misuse of police resources.
The clip, which circulated widely online, showed heavily armed policemen trailing the actress as she exercised outdoors. Nigerians criticized the scene as an abuse of duty and a sign of declining professionalism in the force.
Police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Thursday that an internal investigation confirmed the officers acted improperly.
“The inquiry found them guilty of misconduct and abuse of duty, and they have been dismissed with immediate effect,” Adejobi said.
The force emphasized its commitment to discipline and warned that such behavior would not be tolerated.
“We will continue to uphold professionalism and ensure that our officers do not engage in acts capable of eroding public trust,” the statement said.
