Nigerian Teen Makes History With Perfect 1600 SAT Score

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — A 15-year-old Nigerian student, Agbo Adoga, has made history as the first Nigerian to score a perfect 1600 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), a feat that places him among the world’s top high school performers.

Adoga, who attends Graceland International School in Port Harcourt, joins a select group of students globally who have achieved the maximum score on the standardized college entrance exam used by universities in the United States.

“This is a proud moment for Nigeria and for young scholars everywhere,” a representative of the school said.

“Agbo’s dedication and brilliance have shown that excellence knows no boundaries.”

Beyond his SAT success, Adoga has won 84 major awards in mathematics, coding, and STEM competitions both in Nigeria and abroad.

He was the overall runner-up in the Singapore Maths Global Finals (SMGF) 2025 for Grades 11 and 12, a Perfect Scorer in the Singapore and Asian Schools Maths Olympiad (SASMO) 2024, and World Champion at the 4th Grand Final of the International STEM Olympiad (Mathematics – Grade 11) held in Spain in 2025.

He also ranked first globally in the Maths Best of the Best Round of the 5th International STEM Olympiad 2025, earning multiple gold medals in consecutive editions from 2023 to 2025.

At home, Adoga has been equally outstanding. He won the Maths4Life National Mathematics Tournament 2025, taking home ₦3 million as part of the first-place team and receiving ₦100,000 as Most Valuable Player.

In 2023, he clinched the Cowbellpedia TV Quiz Show (Junior Category), earning ₦5 million and an educational trip to South Africa.

Education advocacy platforms such as Educare founded by Alex Onyia have also been credited for inspiring and supporting young Nigerians like Adoga to reach their full academic potential through mentorship, exposure, and access to learning resources.

“This achievement proves that Nigerian students can compete at the highest levels globally when given the right support and opportunity,” said a local education advocate.

Adoga’s academic success has made him a national inspiration, symbolizing the rising potential of Africa’s next generation of innovators and thinkers.
