YOKOHAMA, Japan — Nissan’s new electric sedan, the N7, has hit the ground running in China, racking up over 17,000 orders in its first month of availability, the automaker announced Wednesday.
According to Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company — Nissan’s joint venture in China — the N7 received 17,215 orders since its April 27 launch, with deliveries beginning May 15.
“With the launch of the N7 as a new starting point, we will work together with everyone to create a more diverse and exciting automotive lifestyle,” said Isao Sekiguchi, Managing Director of Dongfeng Nissan.
The all-electric N7 sedan marks the debut model in a wave of nine new energy vehicles Nissan plans to release in China by mid-2027. Sleekly designed and targeted at young families, the N7 comes with either a 58kWh or 73kWh battery pack, offering a maximum range of 635 kilometers under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
Available in three trims — Max, Pro, and Air — the N7 is priced from RMB 119,900 to 149,900 (roughly USD 17,000 to 21,000). It also includes advanced technologies such as Navigate on Autopilot, co-developed with autonomous driving firm Momenta, and an AI-based adaptive seating system designed to maximize passenger comfort.
The sedan has proven particularly popular with younger buyers: 70% of orders have come from first-time Nissan customers under the age of 35.
The N7’s early success supports Nissan’s broader “Re:Nissan” recovery plan, aimed at reestablishing competitiveness in the global EV market. Officials also confirmed that the model is slated for international export in future phases.
In addition to launching the vehicle, Dongfeng Nissan is overhauling its NEV sales and service ecosystem in China, establishing more than 100 dedicated distribution centers and 500 order centers across the country. The company’s mobile app now allows customers to book service appointments and track vehicle status in real time, while also offering a social space for users.
Nissan hopes the N7 will boost its fortunes in China, the world’s largest EV market, and serve as a symbol of its global EV ambitions.
