NNPP Warns APC Chairman Ganduje Against Provoking Crisis in Southwest

OSOGBO, (ChatnewsTV) – The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has cautioned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Ganduje, against making inflammatory remarks that could destabilize the Southwest region.

The warning came in response to comments made by Ganduje during a visit to Akure, Ondo State, on Sunday, where he expressed confidence that the APC would secure victories in Oyo and Osun states in upcoming elections. This followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s win in the Ondo State governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, NNPP Osun State Chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, described Ganduje’s remarks as reckless and ill-considered, particularly in light of the current economic hardships facing Nigerians under the APC administration.

“One would have expected Dr. Ganduje to demonstrate better communication skills befitting his position. With the economic challenges Nigerians are facing, who would willingly vote for the APC? Ganduje should not be carried away by what transpired in Ondo State,” Odeyemi said.

He urged Ganduje to avoid using language that could incite unrest, emphasizing that the people of Osun are “wise and peace-loving” and should be allowed to exercise their voting rights freely. Odeyemi also warned that “spoken words carry weight” and stressed the importance of ensuring a peaceful electoral process in 2026.

Furthermore, he challenged Ganduje to demonstrate the APC’s alleged popularity by contesting elections in his own state, pointing out that the NNPP had previously achieved a significant victory over the APC there.
