NPFL Announces Increased Prize Money for 2024/25 Season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a significant increase in the prize money for the 2024/25 season, with the winner set to receive N200 million. This marks a 33.3 percent increase from last season’s N150 million.

Gbenga Elegbeleye, the Chairman of the NPFL board, made the announcement following the Annual General Meeting of the board and club owners held on Tuesday in Abuja. During the meeting, clubs also agreed on the proposed kick-off date for the new season, set for August 31, and confirmed a 38-game format.

The fixtures for match-day one of the season were released, with reigning champions Enugu Rangers scheduled to face President Federation Cup champions El-Kanemi Warriors in the first game of the season on Saturday, August 31.

Speaking on the new developments, Elegbeleye highlighted the league body’s commitment to enhancing the competition and providing better incentives for the clubs. “We are pleased to announce this increment in the prize money as part of our efforts to improve the league and support our clubs,” he said.
