The Lagos State Police have arrested a nurse in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman named Abiola, who died after undergoing a buttocks enlargement procedure in the Lekki area.
Abiola reportedly lost her life after receiving the surgery, commonly known as a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), at a clinic in Lekki Phase 1. This type of cosmetic surgery involves reshaping the buttocks by removing excess fat from other parts of the body.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement. He explained that Abiola’s driver alerted the Maroko Police Division after the situation took a fatal turn.
“Upon arriving at the clinic, the owner instructed a nurse to administer an injection to Abiola,” said Hundeyin. “Shortly after, things took a drastic turn as Abiola lost consciousness and began struggling to breathe.”
In a desperate attempt to save her, the driver rushed Abiola to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1. However, upon arrival, medical staff declared her dead.
Police detectives have since visited the clinic, gathered evidence, and transported Abiola’s body to a morgue for an autopsy. “The nurse involved has been taken into custody while the investigation continues,” added Hundeyin.
