Renowned publisher of Ovation Magazine, Mr. Dele Momodu, has made damning accusations against the former governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, alleging his lack of trustworthiness due to his disloyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The rift within the party has deepened following Wike’s backing of Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election, stemming from a disagreement with the PDP leadership over the party’s choice of Atiku Abubakar as its flagbearer. Wike’s subsequent appointment as FCT Minister by President Tinubu has stirred controversy and raised questions about his allegiance.
In a recent appearance on Channels Television, Dele Momodu highlighted the skepticism surrounding Wike’s loyalty, even within the president’s camp. He asserted, “There is no Nigerian today who does not know that Wike cannot be trusted in any matter especially if it affects his interest in power. For him, power is everything. Money is everything.”
Momodu’s statements underscore the divisions within the PDP and the broader political landscape, reflecting the tensions and mistrust that have emerged in the aftermath of the 2023 presidential election.
The allegations levied against Wike by Momodu further contribute to the ongoing debate surrounding political loyalty and integrity in Nigeria’s ever-evolving political sphere.
