The leadership of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, held a meeting with Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, President General of Ohaneze, led the delegation to the secret police facility. The meeting, which reportedly commenced at about 1:00 pm on Thursday, was shrouded in secrecy, with few details emerging about the discussions.
Sources indicate that the discussions likely revolved around the sit-at-home order declared by IPOB to honor Biafra’s heroes in the South-East region. This order has had significant socio-economic impacts in the region, and the meeting could be pivotal in addressing the ongoing tensions.
Chief Iwuanyawu, when approached for comments, emphasized the importance of dialogue in resolving the issues facing the South-East. “This meeting is a step towards achieving peace and stability in our region. We are committed to finding a peaceful resolution that respects the aspirations of our people,” he stated.
The outcome of this meeting could have far-reaching implications for the stability and future of the South-East region.
