ISTANBUL, Turkey (CHATNEWSTV) — Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen continued his scintillating form on Saturday, netting his 10th goal of the season to help Galatasaray edge past Göztepe 2-1 in a fiercely contested Turkish Super Lig encounter.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 10th minute, calmly converting a penalty to send Göztepe’s goalkeeper Mateusz Lis the wrong way. The goal energized the home crowd at Nef Stadium and set the stage for an intense clash.
Göztepe equalized in the 27th minute when Romulo delivered a brilliant solo effort, weaving through Galatasaray’s defense before unleashing a powerful strike that ricocheted off the post and into the net, leaving Fernando Muslera helpless.
The second half brought more drama as Galatasaray pressed for a winner. In the 61st minute, Yunus Akgün restored the lead with a composed finish inside the box after a clever pass from Dries Mertens. The goal proved decisive as Galatasaray held off Göztepe’s late surge.
Osimhen, a constant threat throughout the match, was substituted to a standing ovation in the 87th minute, underscoring his importance to Galatasaray’s title chase. The match extended into 11 minutes of added time, but the hosts held firm to secure three crucial points.
