The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, over alleged anti-party activities that have reportedly threatened the unity and stability of the party in the state.
In a resolution submitted to the APC National Secretariat and addressed to the National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje, the Osun APC accused Aregbesola of creating internal divisions within the party by establishing a splinter faction.
According to the resolution, “The divisive actions taken by Ogbeni Aregbesola, including the formation of a parallel party structure, have led to an unprecedented breakdown of cohesion within the party ranks. This development is especially concerning during this critical period in Osun politics.”
The state chapter emphasized that Aregbesola’s activities had further fueled internal strife, which it said could have negative ramifications on the party’s performance and unity.
“This decision was taken to safeguard the interests of the party and ensure that all members align with the common vision of the APC in Osun State,” an Osun APC official explained.
As of the time of this report, Aregbesola’s camp has yet to respond to the development.
