OSLO, Norway (CHATNEWSTV) — Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa will pay an official visit to Norway from January 14 to 15, marking the first official visit from Palestine since Norway recognized it as a state.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Norwegian Foreign ministry, Mustafa will meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, President of the Storting (Norwegian parliament) Masud Gharahkhani, and members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence. Mustafa will also meet with Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. The discussions will focus on the ongoing situation in Palestine and Norway’s efforts to support the realization of a Palestinian state within the framework of the two-state solution.
“We are at a critical juncture for peace and the two-state solution,” said Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide. “This visit is timely as it coincides with the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution meeting, which Norway is hosting on January 15.”
The visit comes at a challenging time for Palestinians, with the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas causing a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Thousands of civilians have been affected, with attacks on hospitals and aid workers violating international law. The situation in the West Bank is also worsening, deepening concerns over the humanitarian situation.
“We must continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and work towards a peaceful resolution,” said Mustafa in a statement ahead of his visit.
