ABUJA, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) has announced plans to meet with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in January as part of efforts to resolve the party’s ongoing crisis.
At an emergency meeting in Abuja on Thursday, BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara stressed the importance of unity and dialogue to restore stability within the party.
“We cannot afford to let personal ambitions or differences overshadow our shared vision for a better Nigeria,” Wabara said. “Let us prioritize dialogue, collaboration, and a sense of shared responsibility as we navigate these trying times.”
Renewed Peace Efforts
Wabara reiterated the BoT’s commitment to fostering reconciliation within the PDP, starting with outreach to Wike, who has been a prominent figure in the party’s internal disputes.
“To this end, the BoT will begin again to search for peace in the new year, starting with former Governor Nyesom Wike, who the BoT had promised to visit again to seek lasting peace,” he said.
Criticism of NEC Meeting Delays
The BoT also expressed dissatisfaction with the repeated postponements of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting under the leadership of Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum.
“This delay not only undermines the trust and confidence of our members but also risks further fracturing the party,” Wabara warned.
