Abuja (ChatnewsTV) — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Director-General and Global Liaison for the newly established Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, following agreements reached during the President’s official visit to China in early September.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tegbe will report directly to the President, overseeing the day-to-day management of the partnership. His role will involve continuous engagement with Chinese counterparts to ensure the successful execution of key projects and synchronisation with Nigeria’s national development goals.
Tegbe, a 1988 first-class graduate in civil engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, has over 35 years of experience in business strategy. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He previously served as senior partner and head of advisory services at KPMG Africa, advising governments and Fortune 500 companies on investment and strategy.
As part of his new role, Tegbe will immediately submit a strategic action plan that outlines deliverables, timelines, and key performance indicators. His focus will include priority projects such as rail network expansion, power distribution upgrades, and the creation of new industrial parks.
The partnership, forged during President Tinubu’s visit to Beijing, comes as China has pledged $51 billion in new financing for African nations, including Nigeria, over the next three years. The countries have also agreed to collaborate on infrastructure development, technology transfer, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
