President Bola Tinubu extended warm congratulations to former Nigerian Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, GCFR, as he marks his 83rd birthday today.
This was made known on Saturday in a press statement released by the Presidential Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale
General Babangida, affectionately known as IBB, led Nigeria as its military president from 1985 to 1993, a period during which he left a lasting impact on the nation’s development. Reflecting on IBB’s contributions, President Tinubu highlighted the former leader’s efforts in advancing the country’s infrastructure, particularly the completion of the Third Mainland Bridge, which was the longest bridge in Africa at the time.
“General Babangida played a pivotal role in shaping modern Nigeria,” President Tinubu remarked. “His dedication to the progress of our nation is evident in the monumental projects he spearheaded. On this special day, I wish him many more years of good health and continued service to our country.”
