ABUJA, Nigeria (ChatnewsTV) — President Bola Tinubu is set to host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.
This was made known in a statement released on Saturday by Special Adviser to the President, Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit, beginning Saturday, will be the first by an Indian leader to Nigeria since 2007.
According to the statement, the visit follows the historic trip made by former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, during which the two nations established a strategic partnership. President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi are expected to explore ways to further strengthen the bilateral ties between Nigeria and India during their meeting.
“The discussions will center on deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” said Bayo Onanuga.
During the visit, both leaders are expected to formalize their commitments by exchanging signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing collaboration in key sectors.
Prime Minister Modi’s arrival in Abuja is anticipated to reaffirm India’s dedication to fostering stronger ties with Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation and a crucial partner in trade and development.
