Recruit Allegedly Hacks Army Officer To Death

Zaria, Nigeria, July 20, 2024 /ChatnewsTV/ — In a gruesome incident, some applicants to the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria are alleged to have murdered a fellow applicant, subsequently withdrawing approximately N800,000 from his bank account. The lifeless body of the victim, marred by knife wounds, was discovered early Saturday morning in the popular PZ area of Sabon Gari Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, recounted the events leading up to the tragic death. The deceased, hailing from Gombe State, had confided in his friends that his parents had transferred nearly a million naira into his account to aid his recruitment into the Army Depot.

“On Friday afternoon, he even entrusted his ATM card and password to one of his friends to withdraw N10,000 for food,” the witness revealed. “We suspect that these friends are behind the killing because they knew about the money and had access to his ATM password.”

The victim’s body has been transferred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika. Despite the severity of the incident, both the Army Depot and the Nigerian police have yet to issue any statements regarding the murder at the time of this report.
