PARIS — Renault on Wednesday announced an updated Megane E-Tech electric lineup, featuring a new Esprit Alpine trim, an advanced regenerative braking system called One Pedal, and an 11 kW bidirectional charger as standard.
“The new Megane E-Tech electric range enhances driving experience and convenience while introducing a sporty Esprit Alpine trim,” said Renault Press Officer Aurore Guilloux.
The refreshed lineup now includes three trims: Techno, Esprit Alpine, and Iconic, all powered by a 220 bhp engine and offering a long-range battery with up to 468 km (WLTP) of range.
Esprit Alpine: Sporty Elegance
The Esprit Alpine trim, positioned between the Techno and Iconic versions, enhances the Megane E-Tech’s sporty appeal with exclusive design elements:
Matte Shadow Grey body color and splitters
Ice Black tinted 20-inch alloy wheels
Gloss Black trim around the side windows
Esprit Alpine badge on the front left wing
Black embossed fabric seats with blue stitching, made from recycled materials
A blue, white, and red Alpine-Renault badge
One Pedal for Smoother Driving
A key addition to the new Megane E-Tech electric range is the One Pedal feature, which enables drivers to accelerate and slow down using a single pedal.
“This technology reduces brake pad wear, maximizes energy recovery, and ensures a smoother drive, especially in urban areas,” said Julien Cotteverte, Renault’s Head of Product Communication.
The feature, developed by Renault’s EV subsidiary Ampere, will also be available on upcoming Renault models such as the R5 and Scenic E-Tech electric.
Bidirectional Charging and V2G Technology
All Megane E-Tech electric versions now come equipped with an 11 kW AC bidirectional charger, enabling energy transfer between the vehicle and external devices via a power-to-object (V2L) adapter. This allows the car to power household appliances or charge smaller electric vehicles.
In France, the charger is compatible with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, allowing owners to feed excess energy back into the grid using the Mobilize Powerbox Verso charging stand.
“The ability to store and return energy to the grid helps users lower electricity costs and supports a more sustainable energy ecosystem,” Renault stated.
Plug & Charge: Simplified Public Charging
Renault is also rolling out Plug & Charge functionality, which will soon integrate with the Mobilize Charge Pass, allowing drivers to charge at compatible public stations without needing a card or app.
“With Plug & Charge, you simply plug in the car, and charging starts automatically,” Renault explained. The service will be accessible at over 800,000 public charging stations across 25 European countries.
