JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (CHATNEWSTV) — Nissan Formula E Team secured its second podium of the season as Oliver Rowland finished second in the inaugural Jeddah E-Prix on Friday, pushing him to the top of the Drivers’ Championship.
Rowland, who qualified third, surged into second place early in the night race before seizing the lead on Lap 11. Nissan executed the debut of Pit Boost flawlessly, keeping Rowland ahead, but a late need to conserve energy saw him drop to second at the finish.
“I’m pleased to score more valuable points and pick up a podium, even though it’s never easy to lose the win on the last corner,” Rowland said. “We just ran low on energy towards the end, but we’ll take this pace into tomorrow.”
Teammate Norman Nato climbed into the points-paying positions but finished 20th after a drive-through penalty for a technical infringement.
With the result, Nissan leads the Manufacturers’ Championship, while Rowland now tops the Drivers’ Standings. The action continues Saturday with Round 4 in Jeddah.
