ABUJA (March 5, 2025) — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has formally submitted a sexual harassment petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio on the floor of the Senate.
Akpoti-Uduaghan presented the petition on Tuesday as the upper legislative chamber resumed plenary, rising under Order 40 of the Senate rules. She referenced statements she made during an interview on Arise TV, where she alleged sexual harassment by Akpabio.
“I had previously spoken about this issue publicly, and I have now decided to bring it before the Senate in a formal petition,” she said.
In response, Akpabio did not object to the petition’s submission, allowing Akpoti-Uduaghan to proceed.
The development is expected to spark intense debate within the National Assembly, as it comes amid growing calls for accountability and reforms regarding misconduct allegations in Nigeria’s political space.
